While at DCC

Complete Steps 1 through 5 by 23 August 2024

  1. Fill out the Student Data Form .
  2. Use this guide to submit your Government Travel Card Application.
  3. If applicable, download, complete and send the Officer Basic Course Lodging Exception to Policy (ETP) to Student Detachment.
  4. Download, fill out and send the Student Biography Form to the Student Detachment.
    1. Please ensure your Biography photo meets the following requirements:
      1. You are in your Army uniform
      2. Full face and front view
      3. Plain white or off-white background
      4. U.S. Army & nametape are visible

  5. Below is a list of documents that you must have to successfully complete inprocessing at TJAGLCS.
    1. DD Form 214 (if applicable) showing any prior service – 2 copies
    2. (If you are a National Guard Soldier) Copies of both your DCC and JAOBC Orders if you have not already emailed them to the OBC inbox.

While at OBC (Day 1 Inprocessing)

  1. Download and fill this form and send to Student Detachment.
  2. Download the Jagcnet System Authorization and Access Request Form.
    1. Complete your Cyber Awareness training from JKO or https://cs.signal.army.mil/login.asp and download your training certificate. You will need the certificate to complete the application process.
    2. Fill out blocks 1, 5, 10 and 11 of the 2875. Leave blocks 18 & 19 blank.
    3. Send the completed form to the Student Detachment for processing.
    4. Complete the application process.
  3. Download the pay inquiry form and submit the completed form to the Finance Inbox.

REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS & LODGING: If you are residing in the LCS: the address is 600 Massie Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Lodging Check-in time for the LCS is 1230. You will report, sign for a room, and pick up your badge for the building. If you have a GTCC in hand, put it on file. If you do not have a GTCC, follow the application steps above. Make sure you get your unit patches for your ACUs before you leave Fort Moore. Accountability formation will be held at 0600 on September 23 in front of the building.

MILEAGE/TDY TRAVEL PAY: If you are traveling from Fort Moore, GA, you are entitled two travel days to get to Charlottesville. The Army will pay for mileage or flight (if orders allow and booked through CTO/SATO) and the hotel cost ($98.00) for one night at the government rate at/around the midway point (Charlotte, NC) between Ft. Moore and Charlottesville. Please plan ahead.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS (HHG): Coordinate with our transportation office while you are at DCC. If you are authorized 600lb HOLD BAGGAGE in your orders and are TDY in route to your duty station, you may claim this entitlement. If you have already reported to your duty station and are TDY in return, you are not eligible for this entitlement. To claim this entitlement, you must secure a FULL weight ticket during your travel time from your Home Of Record (HOR) to Fort Moore, and/or Fort Moore to Charlottesville. Frequently Asked Questions

May I bring a Personally Owned Vehicle (POV) to Charlottesville?

Yes, a POV is authorized during your time at TJAGLCS.

Generally, what should we expect on a day-to-day basis while at OBC?

Physical training with Cadre or Fitness Group Leaders is from 0630 to 0730, classroom instruction is from 0900 to 1700, and lunch is typically from 1200 to 1330.

How should we prepare for OBC?

Initiate a physical training regimen before you report to DCC. It will be helpful to be familiar with FM 7-22 and ATP 7-22.01 .Both publications are available at: https://armypubs.army.mil (go to the Publications tab, then find the Training and Doctrine column and click on ATP and FM from there.)

How does BAH work while at DCC and OBC?

BAH varies by geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependency status. Read page 21 of the handbook for more information

How do I get my Dress Uniform to OBC in a timely manner?

If you do not have the ASU or the AGSU that you will need for the formal events (to include the graduation). In that case, we highly recommend that you order your uniform through Marlow White online at https://www.marlowwhite.com or at your nearest military clothing and sales store and have it shipped to the Student Detachment before your report to DCC

Will we have an opportunity for family/ spouses to come visit us during JAOBC?
Are family members allowed to visit/stay with us for short periods of time?

Yes, your family members are allowed to visit you intermittently.

How do I find housing and organize a move for my assignment after Charlottesville?

You will be assigned a sponsor from your gaining unit once you get to OBC. That sponsor will help you secure lodging as you prepare to leave Charlottesville.

If we POV to Fort Moore, how much time will we be given to make the subsequent drive to Charlottesville (it is around a 10-hour drive)?

Will the graduation be open to family/friends?

Yes. Family members are welcome to attend your OBC graduation. There may be limited seating. We will provide more guidance when you get here.

Should we pack additional items for Charlottesville that were not on the packing list for Fort Moore? What is the dress attire that we wear to class in Charlottesville?

Bring civilian clothes for off-duty hours. Your daily uniform for classes will be the Army Combat Uniform. Your uniform for physical training is the Army Physical Fitness Uniform.

Student leadership: Can you expand on what that entails and how it works? Is that a pass/fail thing or more or a leadership development thing?

The class leader is responsible for reporting appropriate student issues directly to the SD Commander, including CCIR, illnesses, injuries, financial issues, family issues; responsible for ensuring information is sent from the Cadre to the class; responsible for fostering a positive tone that promotes unit cohesion and high morale among other duties. We also have positions such as the Class Executive Officer who is responsible for the student staff officers (S-1, S-4, PAO, Social Officer, Volunteer Coordinator, and Athletic Director and the class First Sergeant who is responsible for student accountability.)

If we do not travel by POV, what does transportation look like in Charlottesville?

Even if you do not have a POV, your lodging will be within walking distance to TJAGLCS, food stores and restaurants. To get around Charlottesville during off hours, you will have to use public transportation.

If I do not stay in military housing in OBC can I receive a housing stipend?
