Free, face-to-face, non-medical counseling
The Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program helps military families overcome challenges
with free, short-term, non-medical counseling.
MFLC counselors are master’s or doctorate-level licensed professionals who support service members,
spouses, and immediate family members.
Whether you want to strengthen a relationship or talk through a difficult situation,
MFLC can help you build skills and resilience for military life.
Common topics MFLC can help with
- Relationships at home and at work
- Managing stress
- Adjusting to military culture
- Building parenting skills
- Handling grief and loss
- Staying resilient through deployment and other challenges
MFLCs can also provide diversity and inclusion coaching for individuals and families impacted by racism,
sexism, bias, or discrimination.

Privacy and confidentiality
Services are private and confidential except in situations that involve domestic violence,
child abuse, sexual assault, or situations that necessitate a duty to warn.
Not covered by non-medical counseling
- Long-term counseling and support
- Mental health diagnoses
- Psychological or fitness-for-duty evaluations
- Addictions
- Medical diagnostic testing
- Crisis situations
MFLC support may be available through installation Military and Family Support Centers, child and youth programs,
schools, military units, surge locations, and on-demand events.

to help service members and families build skills and resilience.
