PURPOSE: The ITAC prepares intermediate trial advocates to serve as first chair litigators in contested special victim and general crimes courts-martial. The course focuses on case analysis, trial strategy, trial advocacy, and effective use of the military rules of evidence. Special emphasis will be placed on: argument construction, witness and evidence presentation, voir dire, expert witness testimony, and courtroom technology.

PREREQUISITES: ITAC is intended for judge advocates who:

  1. Are serving in trial or defense counsel positions;
  2. have tried a minimum of three (3) contested courts-martial;
  3. completed New Prosecutor Course, BTAC, or Defense Counsel 101 (or service equivalent).

Exceptions to course prerequisites are made on a space available basis. Preference for slating for Army seats will be given for those JA’s who have attained PDPC Level I and are using ITAC to satisfy the requirements for PDCP Level II. Attendance at this course is by invitation only. Applications are considered and accepted at the discretion of the Course Manager. Self-registration is not authorized.

LOCATION: This course is exclusively in-person instruction at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center & School (TJAGLCS), Charlottesville, Virginia. Remote attendance is not authorized. All attendees will be required to provide their own computer or digital device (e.g., laptop, tablet, etc.) capable of accessing JAG University (JAGU). Please ensure you are able to meet these technology requirements before registering for this course.

FUNDING: All costs of your attendance are unit funded. TJAGLCS does not fund your travel.

DEADLINE: Applications are due NLT 20 December 2024. Approved applicants will be loaded into Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS) and notified of their attendance and execution of the course by 10 January 2025.
