UPDATE: The course is being moved to a virtual environment and will no longer be held at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. If you previously applied or registered for the course in ATRRS, you will receive an email providing more information.

  • The course will be held online from 22-25 April 2025, with each day’s instruction ending at 1200 EST.
  • If you have not previously applied or registered for the course, please read this instruction in its entirety and apply NLT 11 April 2025.
  • This course will not offer credit hours for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for Pennsylvania and Ohio.

PURPOSE: The Advanced Acquisitions & Appropriations Law Course (formerly Advanced Contract Law Course (5F-F103)) provides advanced instruction on specialized contract and fiscal law topics. This course is for non-supervisory contract and fiscal law attorneys with over two years of contract and/or fiscal law experience. The course addresses various topics, which vary with each course. This course typically includes selected classes from the previous Government Contract and Fiscal Law New Developments Course (5F-511) and other advanced contract and fiscal law topics.

This year’s course will feature contract and fiscal law topics, including source selection, FAR Part 8, intellectual property disputes, appropriation law interpretation, security cooperation, IT acquisitions, working capital funds, and new developments in policy and law and innovation efforts. Course dates are 22-25 April 2025 (exclusively online).

Prerequisites: Military or civilian attorneys employed by the U.S. Government. Attendees must have successfully completed the Contract Attorneys Course (5F-F10), and/or the Fiscal Law Course (5F-F12), or equivalent training and have at least two years of experience as a contract and/or fiscal law attorney or equivalent.

Location: All classes will be held exclusively online using the ZoomGov platform. It will be the attendee’s responsibility to ensure they have access to, and familiarity with, the Zoom Client for Meetings application (https://zoomgov.com/wc). Many government computers or laptops are unable to use Zoom, so it is the responsibility of the student to work with their local IT department to use a commercial laptop or other device that is capable of using Zoom. Although many users are unable to download the application, choosing the “launch meeting in browser” option, usually leads to success. The Legal Center and School (LCS) will hold practice sessions during the week before the course for attendees to login and ensure their equipment is in working order and able to access the course. Additionally, all attendees will be required to provide their own computer or digital device (e.g. laptop, tablet, etc.), and internet connection capable of accessing JAG University and Zoom. Please ensure you are able to meet the technology requirements before registering for this course.
