The Emerging Topics in Technology & Acquisition Course

General Guidance: The Emerging Topics in Technology & Acquisition Course will be held 20-23 January 2026 at TJAGLCS in Charlottesville, VA. 

This four-day, expert-led program examines the critical intersection of national security and acquisition law in an evolving technological environment. Keynotes and panel discussions will address Army digital innovation and transformation initiatives; legal issues associated with unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and counter-UAS operations; acquisition of software; emerging issues in cyber and artificial intelligence; the role of private industry in defense innovation; and collaboration with public and private research laboratories. 

This course is open to legal practitioners from all military branches and DoW agencies who advise on national security law (NSL) or contract/fiscal law (KFL) issues at the tactical, operational, and strategic level, as well as legal professionals supporting organizations that deal with innovation, transformation, and technology initiatives.  

The course will begin at 1200 on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, and end at 1230 on Friday, 23 January 2026. Because several blocks of instruction will be held at the SECRET level, all attendees must have an active SECRET security clearance. 

Important Details:

  • Security Clearance: Since some materials will be presented at the SECRET level, all individuals wishing to attend this course must have a SECRET security clearance.
  • Application Deadline: Submit your application by Friday, December 19, 2025.
  • Notification of Selection: Applicants will be informed of their selection by Monday, December 22, 2025.
