PURPOSE:This course provides a foundational review of fiscal laws and principles to meet the needs of a general military attorney serving in a Brigade or higher echelon military unit, installation, or agency. The course covers the statutory, regulatory, and policy authorities governing the commitment, obligation, and expenditure of appropriated funds in garrison and when deployed. The course addresses current fiscal issues confronting the Department of Defense.
PREREQUISITES: Department of Defense civilian and military attorneys actively engaged in administrative law, operational law, or government contract and fiscal law. Non-Department of Defense Federal Government Attorneys may enroll in this course by exception. Any applicant who has attended this course within the previous four (4) years, or applicants who have completed the Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course or the Judge Advocate Officer Graduate Course within the last two (2) years will be rejected or disenrolled.
LOCATION:This course will be held in-person instruction at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center & School, Charlottesville, Virginia. All attendees will be required to provide their own computer or digital device (e.g., laptop, tablet, etc.) capable of accessing JAG University (JAGU). Please ensure you can meet these technology requirements before registering for this course.

All Department of Defense personnel and Non-Department of Defense personnel may complete the course application form via the link at the bottom of this page to apply for enrollment on a space-available basis. On the form, indicate that you are a non-DoD or DoD applicant. However, in a non-DoD please also include your Reserve/Guard information if applicable, even if applying in your civilian capacity.
DEADLINES:Applications are due by COB 14 February 2025, no exception. However, enrollment will start on a rolling basis as soon as we start receiving qualified applicants. All enrolled applicants will receive the FLC Welcome Letter NLT Friday, 21 February 2025. If you do not receive a welcome letter by this date you will remain on the waitlist.
