Advanced Acquisition and Appropriations Law Course: 

Governmental Rights in Intellectual Property

PURPOSE: To provide government attorneys with a strong foundation in intellectual property law and policy, focusing on its relevance to the Department of the Army, and its priority focus on Continuous Transformation.

PREREQUISITES: The course is designed for military or civilian attorneys employed by the U.S. Government whose portfolios include, or will include in near-term assignments, intellectual property issues (from the perspective of either a requiring activity, or a contracting activity). No experience is required; indeed, the course is designed to provide a baseline knowledge for those folks who may need to spot IP issues in future assignments.

LOCATION: This course is expected to be exclusively in-person instruction at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center & School, Charlottesville, Virginia, subject to the direction of the Commanding General. All attendees will be required to provide their own computer or digital device (e.g., laptop, tablet, etc.) capable of accessing JAG University (JAGU). Please ensure you are able to meet these technology requirements before registering for this course.

All personnel interested in attending the course must apply for enrollment (using the link at the bottom of this page) on a space-available basis. Personnel will be notified of their acceptance into the course. Please include your Reserve/Guard information if applicable, even if applying in your civilian capacity.

DEADLINES: All applications are due by 2359 on 28 November 2025, without exception. Enrollment decisions will be made immediately following the deadline, based on the number of seats available for the course. Applicants will be notified of their enrollment status (admitted or not) NLT 10 December 2025.
